.DISCUSSION...

Our weather this week is looking to be less volatile in comparison
to last weekend with mostly dry conditions and a general warming
pattern outside of brief cool down Wednesday.

We start this week cooler with brisk NW winds and temperatures
sitting 5-10 degrees below average through midweek. Expect
freezes to continue across Sierra valley communities with 40-50%
chances of seeing sub-freezing lows overnight across the North
Valleys and Washoe-Carson valleys. Rural valleys across Pershing
and Churchill counties could see greater than 70% of dipping below
freezing. While Reno-Sparks chances are less than 20%, it still
might be wise to protect any sensitive vegetation if you sit in a
localized cooler location.

Wednesday looks to be the coolest day of the week as a dry
backdoor front switches our NW winds to be out of the northeast.
This will yield high temperatures in the low 60s across western
Nevada while eastern Sierra communities only reach the low 50s.
Temperatures will quickly rebound by the start of the weekend as
highs increasing back to near the 80 degree mark across western
Nevada by Friday. I know, not cold for once over the weekend.

Conditions look primarily dry this weekend with the only real
chance of showers coming during the latter half of the week as
temperatures heat up and a closed low slowly drifts across eastern
Nevada. Right now, ensembles favor keeping the instability and
moisture associated with this low east of the area, but any
further westward drift could result in the development of showers
or an isolated thunderstorm. Fuentes.

.AVIATION...

VFR conditions will prevail through the week with periods of
moderate mountain wave turbulence expected through 15z Tuesday
morning as mountain top wind gusts (FL100) reach 65-70 knots.

Expect W-NW surface winds across the eastern Sierra and western
Nevada terminals through this evening with gusts of 20-25kts.
Surface winds turn more northerly Tuesday with terminal gusts
near 20 knots. Areas downwind of dry lake beds and desert sinks
could see some patchy areas of blowing dust Tuesday such as KNFL
and KHTH. Fuentes
